PAUL ANDREW ROBINSON GBCT

Director of Photography - Guild of Britsh Camera Technicians

In the decade since graduating from The London Film School in 2008, I’ve been honing my craft and battling “rabbit in the headlight moments” shooting numerous short films, feature teasers, the odd commercial, drama title sequences and 2nd unit work. This culminated in shooting my first feature STRANGEWAYS HERE WE COME (due to be released late 2018) starring Elaine Cassidy, Stephen Lord, Michelle Keegan & Chanel Cresswell.

For the past couple of years I've been producing, writing and dipping my toe in the world of directing. Adapting and shooting Man Booker Prize Nominee Sarah Hall’s short story, into THE AGENCY (Short Film), starring BAFTA & OSCAR Nominee Lesley Manville, Dexter Fletcher & Gwilym Lee which completed earlier this year. Whilst also continuing to write and develop other feature screenplays. (which may or may not see the light of day!)

Prior to filmmaking I’ve had a successful career as a stills photographer working on campaigns in Interiors, Fashion and Advertising – photographing the likes of Dame Judi Dench, Arctic Monkeys, Richard Hawley and Reece Shearsmith as well as shooting published reportage work in Havana, Tel Aviv and Buenos Aires.

Obviously, my stills work has had a major influence on my film work. Creatively, there is a subtle softness in light and tone, and palette and composition, throughout all my work, which ultimately forms the basis of my cinematographic style. I have an old-school passion for creating beautiful images through craft and an understanding of narrative. And on a practical level, understanding logistical production, creative direction, sound and editing, team management, post production, vfx techniques etc (the list goes on!) I hope increase my credentials to prospective Directors and Producers as a viable HOD.

Available for opportunities as main unit Cinematographer in Film, TV Drama and Commercials.
